Growing vegetables in a high-tech greenhouse to increase food security

Year-Round Tomato Supply through Sustainable Greenhouse Innovation

In response to Central Canada's seasonal challenges with fresh vegetable availability due to cold weather, Vermillion Growers Ltd., in collaboration with local stakeholders, government partners, and Gakon Netafim, embarked on an ambitious project. Together, they secured funding to establish a state-of-the-art 10-acre greenhouse. This innovative facility not only conserves water and energy but also ensures a year-round supply of fresh tomatoes for the local community. Beyond providing sustainable food solutions, the project contributes significantly to job creation in the region.
