The challenge was to produce locally and reduce the carbon footprint. Until now, organic vegetables were only available during the summer months.
The new 11-ha greenhouse uses geothermal energy from the village to heat the greenhouse in a CO2-neutral way. This makes it possible to harvest organic tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers regionally even during the colder months.

In the initial phase, Gakon Netafim was involved in developing a glasshouse facility for the production of conventional and organic fruits and vegetables for the Steiner family. The Steiners’ goal was to grow natural, fresh sustainable products, which would benefit the locals and Steiner as a company.
After a successful first project in 2015, Gakon Netafim continued to collaborate with the Steiner family in 2019 and 2021 by designing and implementing a customized growing environment with advanced techniques that delivered premium quality yields all year round.
